I have to try a princess cake! Maybe next time I go out to Seattle, I’ll make my brother take me to Ballard to hunt one down! Also, Cake Spy (going into my feed reader immediately) has an interesting article about why the princess cake is a delicate shade of green. (via a really great post over at not martha)

Cake Spy also has a guest post over at Cupcakes Take the Cake about the best places in Seattle to get cupcakes. I had some really wonderful ones at All City Coffee. (As a matter of fact, I ate a cupcake for breakfast every day I was there!)

The Brown Butter Shorties at Smitten Kitchen made my mouth water. I think I have all the ingredients in the house too…

Also, Theresa Honeywell’s motorcycle cozy caught my eye. I’m so far behind on my holiday knitting, I don’t know when I’ll catch up, but my next project is going to be a knitted steering wheel cover! (via Jezebel)

And if you’re looking for wonder xmas gifts, Design Sponge is the place to start. Today Grace posted a roundup of fantastic gifts for under $25 as well as a link to lovely (and inexpensive) Julia Rothman prints.

Artist Carl Warner creates dreamy landscapes out of food. Visit the Telegraph to see more. (via Arts & Letters Daily)

landscape created with food

When I first saw these images, I had a flashback to sitting in Professor Gail Geiger’s Italian Renaissance class and seeing this strange painting by Giuseppe Arcimboldo

painting of a man made out of food

And of course, Warner owes a lot to Dutch and British landscape painting.
