30 Rocks
Well, to make up for the paucity of posting yesterday, I’ll post yet another video. It’s a cute Sesame Street send up of 30 Rock. (via Jezebel)

Do kids still play with things like paper dolls?
I *loved* paper dolls when I was a child. My absolute favorites were Jem and the Holograms. (Here’s a link to a version someone created with photos.) So today, when I saw this link to a Joan Holloway paper doll and wardrobe I couldn’t resist posting it! Beautiful illustration work. (via Jezebel)
Update-The Joan Holloway paper doll was created by Nobody’s Sweetheart, check out her cool portfolio!

Beards are in the zeitgeist ladies and gents! Here’s a cool video I found on Vimeo today. (In case you can’t tell, I’m a sucker for time-lapse videos!)

Only a daily video today folks, but it is a good one! Have a great night and I’ll be back to post tomorrow!

So far substituting Chai and Coffee for Diet Coke is going pretty well. I’m down to 2 or less cans per day! However, I also am trying to stop drinking caffeine after 3pm. That is a little bit harder-especially on school days!
However, I have found two substitutes. I don’t like teas that are grassy or herbal, and peppermint tea and red tea fit the bill. The red tea, which my friend Sonja recommended has an interesting mellow, beany taste. I highly recommend it! Wikipedia had a fascinating article about the provenance of red tea. Peppermint tea is not nearly as interesting, but still delicious.
Hopefully I’ll be off the DC next week!
I was poking around Vimeo today and found this! It is so beautiful, I had to share it!

If you’ve been reading this blog you know that I’ve been substituting Chai for my usual beverage of choice—Diet Coke. I have also been experimenting with other substitutes, mostly coffee and other kinds of tea.
In the morning, I do prefer to drink coffee, but I am incapable of maintaining a coffee machine (I’ve gone through several) and don’t really like the taste that results from a drip brew. I used to use my french press, but the 8 minutes it takes for me to actually brew the coffee, not to mention all the steps involved is way too difficult before I’ve had any caffeine. (kind of a chicken/egg problem there) However, I did finally find a very simple solution!
I’ve been cold brewing my coffee using this recipe from Smitten Kitchen. It’s dead easy, I do the prep work while I’m still alert, and heating the water in the morning only takes a minute. Also, the resulting coffee is seriously delicious!
In honor of all the Dutch postings lately I offer you Golden Earring’s Radar Love for the Daily Video. Ostensibly The Netherlands’ most famous band, this video offers all sorts of 70s goodness, including a sequined bolero jacket.
